A review on the analysis and pattern characteristics of flavor chemicals in tobacco products

 Abstract
Introduction : Tobacco products contain several types of additives for different purposes. In particular, flavor chemicals have been subject to much controversy due to the harmful and attractive effects of smoking.
Methods : Domestic and foreign research papers on the detection of additives and flavoring substances in tobacco products were reviewed, and papers were also reviewed on the toxicity or problems of detected flavoring chemicals.
Results : As a result of reviewing research papers, tobacco products contained hundreds of flavor chemicals, and the total concentration of flavor components contained in tobacco heating products with flavor capsules was 7 times that of traditional tobacco products. Among flavor components, the menthol content in menthol products reached about 80% of the total flavor chemicals, and even in non-menthol products, the menthol content accounted for 0.1~5.5%.
Conclusion : In conclusion, the use of flavor capsules in tobacco products should be quickly banned, and regulations on the use of flavor chemicals including menthol should be discussed.
